Top Three In-Demand Trade Jobs of 2021

Drivers:

The urgency and pressure put on the transportation and logistics industry in the past year has led to enormous demands for workers, specifically drivers. Since May 2020, more than 290,000 jobs have been added in the transportation and warehousing industry. From national to local distributors, stores, and restaurants, more businesses are looking for reliable team members to make sure deliveries are made safely and on-time. A report from the United States Census Bureau shows more than 800,000 job postings across the U.S. for CDL and Non-CDL drivers.

Construction:

The one industry that has kept a regular schedule during the pandemic is construction, and specialty trade contractors is the largest construction subsector. A recent survey of contractors done by the USG + U.S. Chamber of Commerce Commercial Construction Index found that 89% report high levels of difficulty in finding skilled workers. For those who have an interest, experience, or a willingness to learn, there are jobs available in the construction industry, with room for growth as we look ahead to the end of the pandemic.

Utilities:

Economic growth is heating up as consumers spend more, businesses ramp up activity, and record amounts of government stimulus flow through the system. According to Financial Synergies, in May 2021 the GDP report showed that the economy grew by an annual pace of 6.4% in the first quarter, which is well above the historical average of around 2%. With power being essential for driving economic growth, it’s not surprising there is a vast need for Electric Power Lineman and Electricians in the utility sector.

The pace of change is constantly accelerating, and demand for highly skilled workers is skyrocketing—especially across knowledge-intensive industries so it’s important to be prepared.
